Gripes about Interactions with Others

Okay, I’m definitely no spring chicken at 91, but does that mean that supermarket checkout clerks and other store clerks should address me as “sweetie,” honey,” “dearie,” and like terms in an affectionate tone. I do not appreciate these terms of endearment from strangers. It seems like I am not being regarded as a fully functioning adult which I still am, thankfully.

Then there are all the store clerks who don’t think that I can tap my credit cards on their devices and grab the card and do it for me. And if I actually tap my card, they often seem incredulous that I know how to do this.

And how many people, ask me how old I am when they see me on an airplane, taking walking tours in Amsterdam or going up to the Hollywood sign. Do they not know that there are more and more of us out there every day who are still hale and hearty?

How I long for the old days when I wasn’t a curiosity just because I am still walking (no cane) and talking!!!!
